Carlos Alcaraz reached the final on both of his Six Kings Slam appearances. In 2024 he beat Holger Rune and Rafael Nadal, then lost the final to Jannik Sinner, who dropped the opening set and won 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-3. In 2025 he came through Taylor Fritz, and Sinner took the final 6-2, 6-4 without facing a break point. That leaves Alcaraz 3 wins and 2 losses in Riyadh. The Six Kings Slam is an exhibition and the ATP does not count it, so neither final enters his official record against Sinner. Each edition paid him the guaranteed appearance fee of 1.5 million dollars, while the 6 million dollar champion's cheque went to Sinner both times.
On 1 February 2026 Alcaraz beat Novak Djokovic 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5 in the Australian Open final and became the youngest man in the Open Era to complete the Career Grand Slam. It was his seventh major, and the third time he has beaten Djokovic in a major final after Wimbledon 2023 and Wimbledon 2024. He was named in the Riyadh field on 28 July 2026, and this is the first edition he plays as a Career Grand Slam champion. Tenosynovitis in the right wrist was announced after the Barcelona Open on 15 April 2026. It cost him Roland Garros, where he was the two-time defending champion, and Wimbledon, and it kept him out of Madrid, Rome, Queen's Club, the Canadian Open and Cincinnati. He said on 20 August 2026 that he would return at the US Open, and the tour press put the layoff at four and a half months. The ATP had him at 22 wins and 3 losses for 2026, read on 5 September 2026, a count that stops at his one Barcelona match in April and leaves out the US Open he is still playing. The Riyadh nights of 21, 22 and 24 October sit at the far end of that return.

The forehand is the shot, and the drop shot is what makes it unreadable: the same shoulder turn produces a heavy ball through the court or a ball that dies over the net. The finishing half of that pattern showed against Wu Yibing on 4 September 2026, when he won 7 of his 8 points at the net.
The serve is the department he keeps rebuilding, and he says so himself: on 25 February 2026 he told the ATP that he wants it to be better every year and is putting constant work on it. He has never won the ATP Finals, the sport's flagship indoor week; his best there is the 2025 final, lost to Jannik Sinner. Both of his Six Kings Slam finals were indoors, and both went to Sinner.
