Ranking and points are the ATP release of Monday 31 August 2026. The 2026 win-loss, title and serve figures are ATP tour-level totals through Cincinnati, read on 5 September 2026, with the US Open still in progress.

His Riyadh story.

  1. One appearance: the 2025 quarter-final against Fritz

Zverev has played the Six Kings Slam once. On 15 October 2025 he lost the quarter-final to Taylor Fritz 6-3, 6-4 in 59 minutes, and afterwards put it down to a shoulder problem that had arrived in the warm-up. He collected the published appearance fee of 1.5 million dollars and left without a win. Of the six men in the field announced on 28 July 2026, he is the only one who has played the event and never won a match at it, as of 5 September 2026.

  2. The first major: Roland Garros 2026

On 7 June 2026 Zverev beat Flavio Cobolli 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-1 for Roland Garros, his first major in his fourth Grand Slam final and the first Roland Garros title for a German man since Henner Henkel in 1937. It did not move him to the top of the list. He is No. 2 with 7,790 points on the ATP ranking released 31 August 2026, and he has never spent a week at No. 1 in a career that began in 2013. At the US Open, in progress as of 5 September 2026, he is the top seed at a major for the first time.

  3. The Sinner wall: ten in a row, and one stage without points

The head-to-head is 11-4 to Sinner in official ATP meetings, read on 5 September 2026. Sinner has won the last ten, the most recent the Wimbledon final of 12 July 2026, and before it the Madrid Masters final in May of the same year. Zverev's last win over him was the US Open fourth round in 2023. The Six Kings Slam is an exhibition and the ATP does not count it, so a win in Riyadh would leave that record where it stands.

The others, and the record.

Official ATP meetings, on the ATP's own count. It includes Davis Cup, United Cup, ATP Cup and Laver Cup rubbers, and it lists walkovers without counting them. A retirement counts and is printed with its marker. The Six Kings Slam is an exhibition, it never enters the number, and its matches are listed separately.

How he plays.

The weapon

The serve, and specifically how often the first one lands. ATP has him at 71 per cent of first serves in and 89 per cent of his service games won across tour-level matches through Cincinnati, read on 5 September 2026. The rebuilt half is the second serve: 57.7 per cent of second-serve points won in 2026, third on tour, against 44.3 per cent and last place in 2019.

The honest weakness

Sinner, and the length of his matches. He has lost ten in a row to him, the last two in the 2026 Madrid and Wimbledon finals. At the US Open, in progress as of 5 September 2026, he needed 4 hours 53 minutes past Lorenzo Sonego and 4 hours 33 minutes past Quentin Halys, after early exits in Montreal and Cincinnati in August. Riyadh is three nights, not a fortnight.

Indoors, in Riyadh

Riyadh is played indoors on hard court, which is where his best weeks have been. He has won the season-ending ATP Finals twice, in 2018 at 21 and again in 2021, both indoors, and the Paris Masters of 2024 is one of his seven Masters 1000 titles. The quarter-final he lost in Riyadh in 2025 was indoors too.

In his words.
